Bind Every Evil Spirit

 Bind Every Evil Spirit

A family bible study by Keith M. Craddock

As believers, we are constantly engaged in a spiritual battle. The enemy is always seeking to attack us, to discourage us, and to lead us astray. But we have the power to resist him, to bind every evil spirit, and to live in victory.

The Power of Binding and Loosing

In Matthew 18:18, Jesus says:
"Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
This scripture reminds us that we have the authority to bind every evil spirit, and to loose every blessing and promise of God.

The Spiritual Battle

In Ephesians 6:12, we read:
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
We are not fighting against people, but against the spiritual forces of evil that seek to control and destroy us.

The Authority of Jesus

In Luke 13:12, Jesus says to a woman who had been crippled by a spirit for 18 years:
"Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."
Jesus has the power to set us free from every bondage, every curse, and every evil spirit.

Testing the Spirits

In 1 John 4:1, we read:
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
We must be discerning, testing every spirit to see whether it is from God or not.

The Power of Prayer

In Acts 16:16-18, we read about Paul and Silas's encounter with a demon-possessed slave girl:
"She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, 'In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to come out of her!' At that moment the spirit left her."
We have the power to cast out demons and to bind every evil spirit through prayer and the authority of Jesus.

The Spirit of Power, Love, and Self-Discipline

In 2 Timothy 1:7, we read:
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
We have the Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline living within us, empowering us to resist the enemy and to live in victory.

Conclusion

We have the authority to bind every evil spirit, to resist the enemy, and to live in victory. Let us exercise our authority, let us pray, and let us live in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Reflection Questions

  • What evil spirits are you facing in your life right now?
  • How can you exercise your authority to bind those spirits?
  • What does it mean to live in the power of the Holy Spirit?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus, asking for the power to bind every evil spirit. Give us the authority to resist the enemy, and the power to live in victory. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, and empower us to be bold, to be courageous, and to be victorious. In Jesus' name, Amen.
